The Discounts - "Post bling Ting"

Since 2008's offering of The Discounts – Part One, band leader Conway Pacheco has been on the road pleasing crowds and writing new rhymes. After touring Japan with his Canadian band, Conway moved to Beijing to form the “Chinese Discounts”. The band brings you bangin' reggae and funk with fluid dancehall and hip-hop vocals to get the party started. "Instrumentally, the group are excellent and thus Part One plays out as an extended invitation that calls to fans to check the group out in a live setting, which is where they could really show their mettle." Exclaim!, Canada
“The cramped, narrow bar is churning with bodies dancing, stamping and, I think, even pirouetting. Or maybe it’s merely the earth tilting an extra beat to the funk-reggae party sounds of The Discounts.” - Christopher Frey, Up! Magazine

Ping Pong Diplomacy - "Go Back"

A culmination of 2 stalwart young men and one steadfast girl with a parallel mindset. They collectively wanted to create a sound that broadened the musical tastes of the the forward thinking youth and captured the hearts of those gone by in years. The live show being that of cast energy and emotions giving the audience an all inclusive spectacle to behold, is guaranteed to please the senses. Look for the future to bring many more chances to witness the audacity and sheer extravaganza for yourself!

Pink Chimneys - "Sunflower"

The Chimneys play catchy keyboard driven sixties pop that will melt your ice-cream. The current formation of the band have been together for 9 months and according to bassist Wei-ti, the world is now ready for Sino-Dutch jangle schmooze to break open your lunch box and steal your kit-kat. the Chimneys line up of Wei-ti Wu (keyboards/bass), Peter (guitar) Zhengzhong (drums) and Liu Yuan (vocals) will make you wish you'd never given up wearing your toupe.... this is big time).

Russian News Today (musical collective) - "Y.S.I.S.B"

The Russian News Today Musical Collective was the beneficiary of an easy and lubricated birth. There are no visible/aural traces of trauma despite accusations from the fervent supporters of this odd brew. No-one knows their real names, no-one knows their reason for doing this. Let's just rejoice that there are still humans ready to do this shit. RuNTMuCo 1

Nakoma - "Jenga"

Nakoma are in a transition period, and changing musicians, however still have time to bust out mind-melting uber-dark rock, rinsed with Chinese lyrics and general sublime moodiness.... make sure you tie your shoelaces before listening to this one....

His music aims to be praise for and to take listeners back to the place that humans originate.

David Muskett - "Ghosts"

This is in fact the first time that David has been compelled to record his work for publishing. Living in the UK, Canada and now China, he has been writing since a young age. Says David - "My style? Well I'm not another Brit who sings like an American, let's put it that way. I like the simplicity of The Police's early work, the direct and honest style, and I grew up around a lot of old folk guys. That's where I began to learn to play music." Ghosts on Every Corner was written as a testament to sacrifice, loss, fear. "It's been a long road with that song. It came out in ten minutes in the basement on a bad day at work, after a really intense period in my life, which I feel aged me. The song is partly about growing older and losing illusion. It's rare that I'm that honest with anyone, even myself, so to have it as a song, feels lucky. Other songs I've been writing for years are still nothing like finished. It just poured out of me, it's not even like I feel I can credit for it, if I'm honest."

Cheslav Strokin - "Mig"

Russian born songwriter/singer/guitarist/  keyboard player and producer Cheslav Strokin is currently recording his new album with prospective name "Paradigm Shift". Work is done in studios of Beijing, New York and Moscow. With a smooth contemporary style, and an ecological message, Cheslav's music is sometimes bossa, sometimes jazz-pop, but always unique. He also probably was the first to use a Chinese musical instrument, "Zhongruan" to play jazz songs. John Devlin is a singer-songwriter from Birmingham, England. He is currently in Beijing writing songs for a forthcoming album with his new band thetemplefractions.  Ranging from acoustic songs such as Air to the full-on punkier end of rock, the message is always melodic, consistent and clear.

Kamila Nasr - "Chasing Firefiles"

The song Chasing Fireflies is one that Kamila wrote nearly 10 years ago.  She re-recorded this song in september 2010 with her jazz band here in Beijing.  Kamila was a classically trained vocalist and pianist from a young age.  She plays a variety of instruments including guitar, Celtic harp, and flute.  In the late 1990’s she recorded 2 full-length albums of original music with her sister Sara (www.sarakamila.com) and toured extensively throughout North America.  In the early 2000’s she began studying Brazilian Jazz and Latin music and in 2005 moved to Brazil to perform and further her studies. In July 2007 Kamila landed in Beijing where she created a bossa nova band (“Girassol”) and a jazz band (“Lullaby Fire”) with whom she steadily performed in several venues throughout Beijing.

Mr. Wolf - "Antidote"

Progressive folky brit pop influenced songs, extracted from memories and weird experience.  Its Mr. Wolf's hard work that has brought together this chaotic collection of songs. Active in their environment, they sing for social change and peace. "Rock on forever"
