Last year over 7,000 men, women and children lost their lives to AIDS related illnesses in China. Since 2005 the number of Chinese infected by HIV has almost doubled. With low levels of knowledge regarding AIDS and HIV transmission and high levels of stigma and discrimination AIDS remains a major public health threat in China. On 18 October 2009, runners for our NGO Prevention Through Education (PTE) will take part in the Beijing Marathon to support our mission of empowering young people in China with the knowledge and ability to effectively respond to the challenges of HIV/AIDS. This year we are hoping to raise over $20,000. Please help us raise money by sponsoring our runners.
