This is in fact the first time that David has been compelled to record his work for publishing. Well I’m not another Brit who sings like an American, let’s put it that way. I like the simplicity of The Police’s early work, the direct and honest style, and I grew up around a lot of old folk guys. That’s where I began to learn to play music.” Ghosts on Every Corner was written as a testament to sacrifice, loss, fear. “It’s been a long road with that song. It came out in ten minutes in the basement on a bad day at work, after a really intense period in my life, which I feel aged me. The song is partly about growing older and losing illusion. It’s rare that I’m that honest with anyone, even myself, so to have it as a song, feels lucky. Other songs I’ve been writing for years are still nothing like finished. It just poured out of me, it’s not even like I feel I can credit for it, if I’m honest.”
